Development Review Officer
Working under the direction of the Zoning Director, the Development Review Officer will assist with the zoning functions of the Commission. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the Commission’s zoning operation including:
• Review of development plans and documents;
• Processing of zoning applications ensuring compliance with zoning regulations and development standards;
• Providing assistance and information to the general public regarding zoning regulations;
• Preparing staff reports for hearings and meetings;
• Work with Zoning Inspectors regarding permit and development compliance;
• Working with Design Review Board overseeing certificate of appropriateness process.
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in urban/regional planning, historic preservation, landscape architecture, surveying or civil engineering. Consideration will be given to applicants with two or more years in a related field.
Applicants must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365. Creative problem solving and graphic presentation skills are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be technically competent, detail oriented, highly organized and should possess strong verbal and written skills in order to effectively communicate technical information to the public and work effectively with local, state, and federal agencies.

The Macon-Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission is offering a challenging career opportunity for a qualified and motivated individual to fill a position of Zoning Inspector.
Major duties involve on-site inspection of property to ensure compliance with applicable Zoning Regulations in conjunction with approved Zoning Compliance or violation complaints.
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia, a clean driving history for the last 5 years.
Minimum qualifications: a high school graduate or equivalent and five years responsible work experience in a related field.
Salary range is $29,751 – $33,661
