10/04 Work Session | C-Store/Convenience Stores Regulations

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

On Monday, October 4th, the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission will hold a work session to receive input from interested parties and conduct a general discussion about possible changes to the zoning code regarding the regulation of convenience stores and small grocery stores that sell gasoline & alcohol. The session will take place at 2:00 PM in the MBPZ Conference Room in the Commission’s office at the Terminal Station 3rd Floor.

On August 23, 2021, the P&Z Commission established a 90-day moratorium [link to Resolution 21-008] on convenience stores that sell gasoline and alcohol to provide time to review and determine if changes to the zoning codes are warranted and if so, to develop the necessary code revisions.

This came about because of concerns that had been raised by the public, the Macon-Bibb County Commission, and the Macon-Bibb County Planning & Zoning Commission regarding the negative impact(s) that convenience stores might have on the community.

The P&Z Commission decided that a good first step would be to hold a fact-finding work session to help determine what issues are important to the community and how they can best be addressed.
